"Architectour was by far the most informative--and
frankly the most fun I have ever had on a vacation. Mr. Gilson was
so knowledgeable and made the history of building this eternal city come
alive. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I only wish Architectour could
guide me on every vacation".

"What was so amazing about Architectour was it's
organization of premise--touring the city chronologically and by architect.
You viewed this expansive city in minute detail. This and the fact that
the tour was limited to a small group of people made what could have been
an overwhelming experience stimulating and tangible".

In Rome for Christmas 2000, we headed to a trattoria near
the Pantheon for a bite on Christmas night. As we sat down to eat, yet
again, we became engaged in conversation with the fellow at the next table
- JEFFREY!!! Jeffrey knows everything about Rome, except for the Italian
word for "beets", which I was eyeing at the antipasto table.
After dinner, at which point we were new best friends, Jeffrey took us
on a tour of Piazza Navona and found us the one place in Rome to have
an American cocktail.
Back to architecture and history, Jeffrey's knowledge
was amazing. We had been to the Piazza Navona previously with the best
guide books, but none of them were as informative as Jeffrey. On the tour
he pointed out a jewel of a church called St. Ivo. Despite several attempts
at various times of the day (Italian churches being weird about hours)
we were unable to get inside. Seems that you need to be on one of Jeffrey's
tour to see the interior.
In sum, Jeffrey's tips on where to visit and what to see
were impeccable. We learned so much from him during the two brief evenings
we spent together. I can hardly imagine how rewarding it would be to spend
a week with him on one of his tours. Maybe we will see you on the next
one.!

As an architect, my husband always dreamed of a trip to
Rome that had an architectural perspective. In 2001 I decided to make
that his surprise birthday gift. I found out about Jeff's tour and it
seemed to be a perfect match. (This was, of course, a gift that kept on
giving as I accompanied my husband on this tour). Neither of us could
have envisioned how superb this trip would actually be. Jeff's amount
of knowledge is staggering. His delivery of information and flair for
timing is impeccable. While my husband's desire for architectural detail
was thoroughly sated, my desire to be able to appreciate Rome from a broader
perspective was also met. Every detail including accommodations, recommendations
for restaurants and shops was handled with sensitivity to Rome's culture
and history. The most memorable day was our last with an unforgettable
tour to the Vatican excavations. Our only regret is that Jeff does not
(yet) conduct tours elsewhere.
